Srni

Srni

The community of Srní, in the midst of unspoilt nature in the heart of the Bohemian Forest National Park, was founded in 1710. Srní was originally home to woodcutters. The famous Bohemian Forest poet Karel Klostermann enjoyed frequent visits here and it inspired many of his works. There is a memorial plaque to his memory in the village.

Today the village is an ideal starting point for all sorts of excursions. Hiking or cycling, for example, to the wood transportation canal or the Klostermann walk, to the unspoilt Vydra river valley or the local forest chapel, to Antýgl – a former Sudeten German farm and historic monument, Rokyta moor of the three lakes and the moorland area Jezerní slat´ near Kvilda.

In winter there are prepared cross country trails and alpine ski runs.
Come and relax here.
