Mauth-Finsterau

The National Park community of Mauth-Finsterau is located right by the Bavarian Forest National Park in an unspoilt mountain area of natural flora directly on the border with the Czech Republic. The special climatic conditions here at 1,000 metres above sea level are responsible for the amazing variety of wild and medicinal herbs. Because of this, Mauth-Finsterau is known as the „herb village“ .

A variety of cycle and hiking routes, the open air museum at Finsterau and the network of cross country trails as far as the Czech Republic are just examples of what awaits visitors here. The newly opened Otter House is also unique, providing information on the way of life of the otter which has returned to live in the idyllic Reschbachtal.
