Freyung

The resort of Freyung is the highest altitude town in the Bavarian Forest and has a wide range of leisure facilities. Cultural events are held throughout the year in the Kurhaus and guided tours of the Wolfstein Heimatmuseum are available.

Schloss Wolfstein, the symbol of the town is now home to the Hunting and Fishing Museum as well as the Galerie Wolfstein, which houses paintings, sculpture and drawings by contemporary artists in Eastern Bavaria. Concerts, lectures and readings are regularly held in the Fürstenzimmer and in the Tavern in the castle.

A special treat for nature lovers is the "Buchberger Leite" gorge, which, due to ists unique landscape, has been named by the Bavarian Ministry of the Environment as one of the most beautiful geotopes in Bavaria.
